Never Leave a 3 Year Old Unattended....

for too long that is...

Today I was fixing my healthy lunch of salad greens, cucumber, orange pepper, and salmon.  All while Caroline was in the living room supposedly eating her lunch.  I had totally forgotten that we had put the vaseline in the living room for Anna's bottom.  Ooops.  When I returned to the living room - Caroline had smeared gobs of the gooey stuff all over her arms and was on her way to cover her toes.  Luckily I caught her in time....

Later this afternoon, while trying to get rid of a headache I was in the living room, Caroline said she was going to make her own tea.  I had made a fresh gallon earlier this afternoon and knew that she was trying to "be like mom".  Little did I know that she was making her tea with MY FRESH tea - she had added the lovely cucumber skins and orange pepper tops that was supposed to have gone in the trash.  Needless to say the tea went down the drain.

Not sure which lesson I learned but here is a rundown of what I need to remember:

1.) Don't leave a 3 year old unattended for too long.

2.) Put the vaseline in HIGH places.

3.) Throw away food trash sooner.

and

4.) Put the fresh tea in the fridge when it is finished.

Uhmm...Glas

Yesterday while I was feeding Anna her lunch in the kitchen, Caroline was playing in the living room.  I heard a weird "clink, clink, clink" sound and I asked Caroline what she was playing with.  Her response was "Glass".  I quickly put down Anna's food and went to investigate.  Turns out she was playing with my silver presidential spoons that were out from the yard sale.  So not glass...but funny just the same.

Preparing for yard sale

Our church is have a yard sale this week.  So I have been very busy preparing for this grand event.  I am mostly selling all our baby clothes.  Our office for the past year has been filled to the rim with yard sale boxes.  It almost had a life of its own.  One thing I did last fall while preparing for our living room carpets to be cleaned was go through Caroline's toy box.  When I did that, I found all those wonderful happy meal toys and other junky toys and put them in a box labeled "Yard Sale".  Well, this week when I brought down all the boxes, Caroline found this box and of course said - Mommy don't sell these.  She has also said that to a "wonderful" snow man tea pot and a felt snowman bag.

The toys are staying, the tea pot is going....

Wasting Bubble Solution

A couple weeks ago I bought Caroline a HUGE bottle of bubble solution thinking it will take FOREVER for her to go through it.  In her Easter basket she received a bunch of different bubble wands and a small bottle of bubble solution.  Yesterday when it was nice she went out to play with her new bubbles and wands.  Not long after going out did she return to ask for more bubbles.  Well, I didn't fill it back up - I mean, I had JUST sent her out, she can't be out ALREADY.  But sure enough, there it was spilled all over the patio.  I told her she would just have to wait till tomorrow.

Well, today I told her that she could have more bubbles.  I got the BIG bottle out, refilled the smaller bubble bottle and gave it to her.  But first, I asked her - now, you're going to make this last longer than 5 minutes, right?  She responds after a short pause - uh, yeah, 6 minutes?

Oh well, it wasn't long and she was out already - I guess she'll have to wait till tomorrow!

And my curtains....

Every night I get the blessing to ask Caroline her favorite part of the day and what she is thankful for before we say prayers.  Tonight her favorite part of the day - going to church, the Easter egg hunt at Nonna's, Easter egg hunt at our church, the cereal, and gummies, and her curtains.  She is thankful that she has curtains in her room. Now, if only I could be that thankful!!!!

My Grandma...

Tonight while talking with Rick about my grandma being sick - Caroline overheard our discussion.  She then asked if it was her grandma - we told her it wasn't "her" grandma but mine.  We told her no, it's mommy's grandma that is sick.  Remember - she lives in Indiana, we visited her, and she came for Thanksgiving?  Caroline made the connection and then asked, "Is she sick of all that snow?"

Love that girl!

Wow! It's been a year!

Last year, I had this AWESOME idea to take a picture a day.  Well, that pretty much ended when baby #2 came along.  I still take pictures, not as often as I would like, but I haven't been able to post them.  Recently, I've been talking with some friends about the things that make me laugh around here - mostly from my older child.  When telling them the funny things that happened they were quick to ask - are you writing this down?  Well, in my "mind" I'm keeping track of what is said or done that day.  But anyone who knows me knows that I quickly forget just what I was doing 5 minutes ago.

With that said, my blog is changing just a little bit.  I'll still be adding pictures (when appropriate for the situation) but this blog will now be "rantings" or a journal of the funnies in the Lupton house.  So hold on and be prepared to laugh at what Caroline or myself may say!
